Consumer Lending Loan Processor


We are looking for an experienced consumer loan processor to accurately and efficiently process and fund all consumer loans. The consumer loan processor will collect and re-verify every document to ensure loan packages are complete prior to funding and all underwriting requirements are met, assures all disclosure requirements are met, and will respond to questions concerning all aspects of member loans from various sources, such as members, branch managers and branch and department staff. 


  • Responsible for maintaining compliance with all applicable laws and regulations concerning lending
  • Completes loan processing and funding within the credit union procedures with neatness and accuracy
  • Explains loan options, rates, terms and collateral requirements to the member and collects any required verifications
  • Responds to telephone inquiries from many sources, such as dealers, members, branch managers and other credit union personnel, such as explaining loan procedures, providing technical assistance, answering questions concerning loan rates, terms and related matters.
  • Receives consumer loan request package and reviews for completeness
  • Contacts the member to review loan terms and document signing
  • Enters loan details in the lending system
  • Prepares the loan documents and disbursement check and forwards the documents to where the member advised
  • Prepares DMV documents for title transfer
  • Images loan files
  • Answers member and branch personnel questions
  • Works with sales advisors and branch staff to facilitate the processing and closing of all consumer loans Provide extraordinary service at every point of contact
  • Ability to identify members’ needs
  • Ability to cross sell credit union products
  • Ability to handle members’ objections without assistance
  • Neatness and accuracy
  • Ensures completeness of the loan package
  • Willingness to take on tasks without being asked
  • Maintain and follow-up the pending files
  • Ability to work a variety of shifts, including evenings and Saturdays
  • Meet and exceed department and organizational goals


One-year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Knowledge of consumer lending compliance and regulations. Ability to evaluate strategies, prioritize activities and make effective use of resources. Ability to create an environment which motivates others. Ability to listen effectively, present ideas clearly, concisely and in an organized and interesting manner. Ability to use PC in a windows environment, basic word processing and spreadsheet functions. Ability to think creatively. Basic Business Math and business writing.
